B Positive Plasma is participating in the global effort to collect convalescent plasma donations from people who have recovered from COVID-19.  A therapy derived from convalescent plasma is currently being trialed as a method to help in the recovery of COVID-19 patients.  Early results from the trials have been promising, but the need for convalescent plasma is critical to continue research and development during these trials.

Please note that B Positive cannot perform an antibody screen or diagnostic test for suspected current or former COVID-19 infections.

In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements and possessing the required documents to become a new donor at B Positive Plasma, per current regulations, convalescent plasma donors must provide additional information to become a recovered COVID-19 donor. Below are is the key information about B Positive Plasma’s Convalescent Plasma Collection Program: 

• To join this program, prospective donors must commit to making at least two donations.  Per regulation, a single plasma donation cannot be used in this or any source plasma program

• Per regulation, prospective convalescent plasma donors must provide documentation that they confirmed positive for a COVID-19 viral infection or provide documentation that they have received a confirmed positive antibody test for COVID-19

• Prior to entering the program, donors must wait 14 days from when they last experienced COVID-19 related symptoms

• Convalescent plasma donors must meet all other plasma donor qualification criteria to join this program.  Exceptions may be made to donors who reside greater than 50 miles away

• Convalescent plasma donors will be eligible to receive the same compensation Rewards and bonuses that all other new and repeat donors receive

• This program is now available at both our Cherry Hill and Glassboro locations! 

During this time, plasma donation is more important than ever to provide life-saving therapies for immunocompromised patients.  Our top priority is to ensure that we are doing our part to keep you, our employees and our communities safe. 

B Positive Plasma has substantially enhanced its health and safety protocols for its centers:  

• Per New Jersey Executive Order 122 and related orders, all donors, employees, and visitors are required to wear a face mask or cloth face covering while in the facility

• Donors and employees will wash their hands and have their temperature taken upon entering the center before proceeding to other areas

• Where possible, donors and employees will be appropriately socially distanced from others throughout the center. 

• High-traffic and high-touch areas are being disinfected with increased frequency, and some center doors will be propped open to limit contact.

• CDC-recommended chemicals and cleaning agents are being utilized for disinfection and sterilization, where appropriate. 

• Additional screening questions and protocols for some donors, as required

• All chairs have been removed from donor waiting areas to minimize surface area contact around the centers. 

• Visitors and in-person meetings of any size have been extremely limited

• Rooms in employee areas where people normally congregate (conference rooms, break rooms, etc.) are limited to having only a certain number of individuals at any time.

• We are taking steps to ensure the welfare of our employees. This includes instructing employees who do not feel well to stay home and to consult their health care provider 

• before returning to work, as appropriate.

• Continuous health and safety education and recommendations are shared with our donors and personnel on social media, on our website, and within our facilities.

We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and are acting upon the guidance of official public health authorities.  We will continue to implement improvements as recommended or required by local, state and federal authorities.  

Per New Jersey Executive Order, all donors and employees are *REQUIRED* to wear a cloth face covering or medical mask while within a B Positive Plasma facility.  Donors who come to donate without an appropriate face covering will not gain entry to a center.  

The face-covering must be worn snugly over your mouth and nose throughout the entire donation visit, though your eyes must always be visible.  Please note that you will be asked to remove your face covering briefly at different stages for facial identification purposes.

Per CDC guidance, cloth face coverings must:

• Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face

• Be secured with ties or ear loops

• Include multiple layers of fabric

• Allow for breathing without restriction

• Be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to the shape

          

There are many easy and inexpensive ways to make an appropriate cloth face-covering using any cotton fabric from things like socks, t-shirts, bandannas, or towels.

If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, body aches, wheezing, or difficulty breathing DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DONATE PLASMA.   

DO NOT DONATE PLASMA IF IN THE PAST 14 DAYS:

• You have been diagnosed with or suspected of having a 2019 novel coronavirus infection.
